The Council of States will consider the Erasmus+ proposal during the autumn 2026 session. Around 20 organisations from the fields of higher education, vocational training, compulsory education, sport and youth affairs — including swissuniversities, Swiss Olympic and the ETH Board — have sent a joint letter to parliamentarians in support of the funding resolution for Switzerland’s participation in 2027 onwards.
The signatories emphasise that participation in Erasmus+ is essential for the international integration of the Swiss education system and will facilitate Switzerland’s involvement in future research and education programmes from 2028 onwards. They are requesting admission to the programme with effect from 1 January 2027, so that they can take part in the 2027 calls for proposals, which will open in October 2026.
