On 6 June the Federal Council appointed Martin Keller and Matthias Leuenberger to the ETH Board. Martin Keller will take office on 1 August, succeeding Christiane Leister, who passed away at the beginning of March. From 1 January 2026 Matthias Leuenberger will succeed Susan Gasser, whose term of office comes to an end in December.

Upon application of the President of EPFL, Prof. Anna Fontcuberta, the ETH Board is appointing Dr Adrian Wägli as a new member of the Executive Board. He will thus succeed Matthias Gäumann and will take over the Vice Presidency for Operations (VPO) from 1 December 2025.

Statement

The ETH Board welcomes the publication of the text of the agreement on the European programmes negotiated as part of the overall Bilaterals III package between Switzerland and the EU. It is pleased that the approval of the agreement on the European programmes by the Federal Council means that the provisional association with the Horizon package could be confirmed once it is signed, which is due to take place in November 2025.
