Participation in the European Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation is of significant importance for the ETH Domain. The ETH Board welcomed the start of negotiations on the European research and innovation programmes in March 2024 and the transitional arrangement for 2024, which is set out in a Common Understanding with Switzerland. This arrangement enables the best Swiss scientists to compete at European level in the call for proposals for the ERC Advanced Grant 2024, which opens on 29 May 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The ETH Board welcomes the European Commission’s decision which goes beyond what was envisaged in the Common Understanding. It is pleased that the current progress in the negotiations between Switzerland and the EU makes it possible to extend the transitional arrangement to the three ERC calls in 2025 which will be opened in the second half of 2024. This is a positive development with regard to Switzerland’s association to Horizon Europe and excellent news for Switzerland and Europe as a centre of science.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
