The skills shortages and the strong demand on the Swiss labour market for holders of ETH degrees justifies the increase in student numbers at the Federal Institutes of Technology. However, the constant growth in numbers poses considerable challenges. This calls, among other things, for investments in personnel and infrastructure – measures that are jeopardized by the financial prospects of the coming years. The ETH Board has developed the present Strategy in order to maintain excellence in education in spite of this particular context.
